About Me

From Phoenix, AZ. Living in Mill Valley, CA.

For a long time my dream was to be a chef and restaurant owner.  Being in a kitchen for ten plus hours a day allows you to think a lot!  I was initially drawn to cooking by the effort that chefs put into the prep work.  The longer I spent in kitchens the more I saw what it takes to compose a dish. The transformation becomes so much more than just, “does it have enough salt?” There is a balance that takes place between the taste of the food and how each item on the plate is placed.  There is almost a 3-D like sense that chefs have to take into consideration. From visual appeal, taste and number of components.  What may have started out as something different, when complete should represent what the chef set out to achieve. This is what I want to find the the design world.

Next I went into the retail world. A side passion of mine while cooking was to design chef wear. I love clothing as an expression of my personality. Working retail I discovered more about how design plays a significant role. Ranging from how sections of clothing are displayed to transitioning seasons. This taught me about designing in physical spaces. While I am currently still working on my clothing brand my experiences in the retail industry are just another way to shape my views on design.
